Reviews Overview

Most Liked

Customers rave about the genuine warmth and kindness of the staff, a standout quality that enhances every visit. The food, particularly the cockles and laverbread on bara saim, is often described as a must-try, showcasing traditional flavors with a homemade touch. The restaurant’s cozy layout and inviting ambiance make it perfect for both quiet solo meals and lively family gatherings. Many visitors appreciate the unique touches like home-harvested honey and the extensive tea selection, a true gem for those who enjoy a comforting drink with their meal. Overall, patrons leave feeling satisfied, happy, and eager to return.

Most Disliked

While Pantri Blakeman is beloved for its charm and offerings, some guests express concern about accessibility due to the steep stairs leading to the entrance. Although the restaurant is overall welcoming, this is something to consider for anyone with mobility challenges. Additionally, as the restaurant operates on a cash-only basis, some customers find this inconvenient. A few diners have mentioned that the closing time at 3 PM can be a letdown for those looking for a late lunch or early dinner experience. These factors, though significant for some, do not overshadow the restaurant's overall appeal.

Gem in the heart of Carmarthen. My party and I were on a brief visit to the old country from California/Massachusetts and had the great fortune of stumbling upon this joint. Perhaps the best local option for traditional Welsh foods—cawl, laverbread, cockles, etc.—and their “milky coffee” was to die for! The two owners offered us some lovely conversation, improved my pronunciation of Welsh words, and gave fantastic insider recommendations for sites to see in the area. Not to mention that the space is littered with interesting pictures and artifacts providing a glimpse into regional history. Pantri Blakeman will certainly be my first stop if I find myself in Carmarthen again.

They were so amazing. The atmosphere was very welcoming and the owners were so kind. The food was great and the desserts were absolutely perfect. They also sold home harvested honey. The honey is delightful. If I was visiting the area again I would make a point to stop here again.
